For its fourth season, Terra Botanica diversifies its activities with monthly themed events.

The first park dedicated to plants, this 11-hectare area, at the gateway to Angers, is organised around four universes:

  • the coveted Plant
  • the Generous Plants
  • the Mysterious Plant
  • the tame plant

Terra Botanica, the great adventure

Day-trippers, visitors – young and old – stroll through these spaces, which are dotted with some forty attractions: a ride on the water in an electric “gabare”, in the air on board a pedal-powered walnut shell, multi-sensory theatre and other playful or interactive scenery.

One of the most spectacular is a 4D projection that shows the viewer, on a mobile armchair, the unsuspected journey of two drops of water from the sky to the earth, via photosynthesis in the heart of a magnolia tree!

Before that, the adventure will have started at XVIII e century, on the docks of a port where precious spices and medicinal plants are unloaded. Immersed in the atmosphere of the greatest maritime and scientific expeditions, one evolves in a greenhouse and then crosses the Atlantic in the Tempêtarium alongside the explorer Alexander Von Humboldt and the botanist Aimé Bonpland.

In the world of the Generous Plants, the local horticultural history, which includes eminent botanical figures (King René, Louis de Vilmorin…), is not forgotten, with a journey through the medicinal crops, roses and vines of Anjou. We also discover vegetable growing practices with water-based entertainment and automatons.

The Mysterious Plants zone invites you to a more scientific discovery of plants, by penetrating into the heart of cells and going back to the origins of life on Earth.

The visit ends on the theme of Tamed Plants, where the work of horticulturists and landscapers is explored. This is an opportunity to learn more about horticultural practices (grafting, cutting, layering, dividing, selection…) before going to eat a tasty vegetal “hamburger” at the Eco-resto. VF created by the Michelin-starred chef Pascal Favre d’Anne, a former student of Marc Veyrat.
